Zero Waste Beach Elopement // Au Train, Northern Michigan Wedding Photographer

Andrea + Evan // July 24, 2020

We were so excited to shoot this Au Train beach elopement! The white sand beaches of Au Train are some of the most beautiful in the entire Upper Peninsula of Michigan… It looks like a literal tropical vacation destination, and for some people, it is! And other lucky people get to call this place home. Andee and Evan are some of those lucky people. Her grandparents live right in the tiny town of Au Train, and their adorable backyard made for the perfect intimate wedding reception venue (her grandpa was also the officiant!).

We loved every. single. detail. of this elopement, especially since Andee made super eco-conscious decisions trying to have a zero-waste wedding which we love!! She used locally grown flowers, an upcycled vintage wedding dress, signs made from recycled wood pallets, dried flower petal confetti, organic/vegan locally sourced food, handmade flower place cards, reusable napkins, a flag banner made from old napkins naturally died with tumeric/cherries, a grandma’s engagement ring from the 1920’s and a lab-grown diamond wedding band. Can we say GOALS!!

I actually told Andee that if I ever get married, I’m copying a lot of her ideas, and I mean it. 😛

The entire guest list!!

I love the photo bomb in this pic. Someone calling to them to ask a question. 😀

Andee’s sisters prepared a song about her as a surprise!

Thank you for letting us take part in this incredibly special day!
